    GOOD JOBS
Victory! LIUNA Stops So-Called Right-to-Work in Delaware
Yesterday, LIUNA and allies successfully defeated an attempt to pass so-called right-to-work legislation in Sussex County, Delaware.  Over 200 union members along with inflatable rats and LEROF’s new mobile media truck rallied to stop the measure. The Sussex County Council was overwhelmed by the response, which failed in a four to one vote. CONGRESS
Congress Must Act Now on Temporary Protected Status
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has terminated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for El Salvador with an 18-month delay. In addition, over the past few months, DHS has terminated TPS for immigrants from Haiti, Nicaragua and Sudan. Collectively, this will force out over 350,000 people, who have built careers, started families, paid taxes including Social Security, and in many cases raised U.S. born children. LIUNA calls on Congress to act immediately to pass legislation to fix TPS and avoid a humanitarian and economic disaster. LIUNA has endorsed H.R. 4253 and S. 2144, which will keep families together and avoid devastating disruption to communities across the nation. Read LIUNA's statement.

    SAFETY ON THE JOB
Court Ruling Upholds Silica Standard, Protects Workers

The hard-working men and women of LIUNA and fellow building tradesmen and women will be safer on the job with the recent D.C. Circuit Court decision to uphold OSHA's silica rule. LIUNA and our allies in the Building Trades have advocated for a stronger standard on silica for many years. The court ruling is a victory, which will help protect millions of construction workers from silica-related diseases.
